Dear Human Resources Director of Citizens of Humanity,

I am writing to express my interest in starting my professional career at Citizens of Humanity Group in response to your Public Relations Intern job posting. I found this application through LinkedIn. My experience in my coursework as well as working with the Michigan Fashion Media Summit has given me the tools to succeed in the field of PR. With my enthusiasm for working in the fashion industry, teamwork skills, and continuing education in public relations through my studies, I would be an excellent intern with Citizens of Humanity.

With my work as the Vice President of Digital with the Michigan Fashion Media Summit, I have led a team of writers and website managers to run our website and two publications, The Stitch and The Loop. In my first year as Vice President, I created and wrote our organization’s first newsletter, The Loop, covering current events in the fashion industry. In this experience, I not only learned how to construct, format, and research a newsletter, but I also learned how to collaborate with a team of writers, website designers, and marketing directors in conveying our new project in the way we envisioned it, ensuring that the news presented was always topical, to-the-point, and organized. With the introduction of The Loop, our mailing list has grown to reach over 1,000 readers.

Another experience that has taught me valuable PR skills is my varied sociology and communications studies. As a sociology major, I have taken a variety of courses that require the ability to predict social trends and understand what environmental effects influence individuals’ behaviors. Furthermore, I have taken additional courses in communications, writing, and digital studies, such as Fashion and Beauty Public Relations, Professional Writing, and Digital Culture, where I have learned about press releases, writing in a variety of professional stylings, and even created my own online portfolio.

Thank you for taking the time to review my application. I would love the opportunity to interview with you to go into more detail about my experience as well as ask questions about the company. The best way to contact me is through my personal email, avaecshapiro@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you and thank you again for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Ava Shapiro
